Measurement of moisture by nuclear physics is based on the principle that fast neutrons are scattered by hydrogen nuclei in the material and become slow neutrons. However, materials with large atomic numbers can hardly slow fast neutrons. The number of fast neutrons emitted from the fast neutron source into slow neutrons is only related to the hydrogen content, i.e. the moisture content, in the measured material. If the neutron source is combined with the slow neutron detector, the moisture content in the material can be measured. This measurement is non-contact and applied to measure the moisture in soil and moisture in coke, etc.

BEIJING HAMAMATSU PHOTON TECHNIQUE INC. can provide scintillators and scintillation detector products for moisture measurement.
