GB/T 13182-2026, Sodium Iodide (Thallium Doped) Scintillators and Sodium Iodide (Thallium Doped) Scintillation Detectors, revised with participation from BHP, was officially approved and issued on September 28, 2026, and shall come into force on April 1, 2027.

Hamamatsu Group developed high-sensitivity photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) specifically for the project. Serving as the core detection components of IceCube, these PMTs are deployed thousands of meters beneath the Antarctic ice sheet, delivering critical sensing capability to detect faint Cherenkov light produced by neutrinos.
